By Air

The chalet can be reached within two and a quarter hours from either Geneva or Lyons international airports. Chambery is even closer. Both Meribel and Courchevel have altiports for private aircraft.

EasyJet.com flies to Geneva and Lyon from both Luton and Gatwick.

Transfers From Airports To Resort

Travel from the airports is expensive by taxi (£200+), although we have a reliable driver who has both a car and a minibus (email us for details).

Looking for a rental car?

Holiday Autos, part of lastminute.com, offers good rates. You can pick up your car at Geneva airport (or many other locations). We recommend that you hire friom the Swiss side – NOT the French, since the Swiss side ensures that your car will have snow tyres as standard, and it is easier to find your way back to!

Avis and Hertz offer a wider selection of cars and minibuses for hire. Self-drive minibuses can fit 9 people in from the major car hire companies for a week.

Driving All The Way

This method takes one day at a stretch, and two days comfortably. We estimate 12 hours door to door from London via Eurotunnel, and 14 hours from the Midlands. We have a covered car parking space in the central car park. You can load and unload within 20m of the chalet door. It is advisable to hire chains before you depart, and know how to fit them, since learning in the middle of a snow storm is unpleasant and frustrating! It is also a legal requirement, and the gendarmerie can prevent you continuing on mountain roads if you are without.

Directions

It is easier than it sounds. Geneva – Chambery – Albertville – Moutiers – La Tania. On this route you stay on main roads all the way to Moutiers. The new A41 bypass takes 30 minutes off the previous journey time. (Alternatively, you can take the scenic route via Annecy). The total time from airport to the chalet is around 2 hours.

  • Follow the signs in green for France as you leave the airport.
  • Follow signs for Chambery. Take Peage. This takes around an hour.
  • At Chambery, follow the signs for Albertville. This takes around 20 minutes.
  • At Albertville follow the signs for Moutiers/Tarantaise. This will take you around 20 minutes.
  • As you approach Moutiers on the dual carriageway, follow the road to Meribel, La Tania, Courchevel. As you come into Moutiers there is a roundabout. Take the first exist to the right which will take you away from Moutiers up into the mountains. 20 minutes.
  • Follow the signs to La Tania. You will go through St. Bon, and then Le Praz, where you go straight over the roundabout, with the ski jumps on your left.
  • Follow the road all the way through La Tania, and over a roundabout. 150 metres after the roundabout, leaving La Tania behind you to your left, take the first left turning to La Tagna which hairpins back on itself – there is a small signpost to La Saboia residences (but you may miss it).
  • Follow the road all the way to the top, where it opens out into a parking area. There is a lamp post in the centre of the parking area, with large rubbish bin at its base. Drive straight past it to the top of the car park. At the far top end of the parking area there is a gravel track which bends around to the right. When you go round the corner, there are two new chalets – we are the furthest – Chalet Marc de Savoie.
